Piggie not switching off at ignition

I need some of the forum's wisdom.

For the past two rides the bike did not switch off when turning off the ignition key when I got home. (When stopping at the garage to put in petrol everything was fine).

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that it might be related to the one relay acting up, but don't know how common this is.

Can anyone give me guidance on the possible problem and fix? 2000 GS in case it might make a difference.
