SEE UPDATE ON 11 FEB
We are busy planning a trip through Botswana from Ramatlabama gate through to Maun, and then back down through Namibia. The plan is to go from 7 May to 21 May. I will be on my 800GS and 2 friends from East London on XT660'S.
The idea is to spend time riding our bikes, enjoy the landscape, clear our heads and have fun, we are not too bothered about seeing a lot of wildlife, anything we see will be a bonus. We are not experienced in sand riding, and would like to stick mainly to hard packed gravel roads, rocks and rivers and sand patches here and there and taking tar roads on recovery or relaxed riding days.Where possible we would like to camp.
We would like as much as possible advice and information on terrain where we are going of the tar road, and also if it is possible and where to camp where we need to sleep over.
The plan is to go through Ramatlabama to Kanye on tar and sleep over at Molepolole(177km).(Advice needed on where to sleep/camp)
From Mplepolole to Mahetlwe on tracks, join the tar road, and then turn off towards Leagape and up to Sojwe and Lephepe where we will need to sleep over somewhere(148km).(Advice needed on terrain and where to sleep/camp)
From Lephepe to Shoshong on tracks(103km).(Advice needed on terrain and where to sleep/camp)
From Shoshong to Kalamare and up to Serowe on tracks where we will need to sleep over somewhere(134km).(Advice needed on terrain and where to sleep/camp)
From Serowe to Mopipi on tar where we will need to sleep over(315km).(Advice needed on where to sleep/camp)
From Mopipi to Gweta on tracks where we will need to sleep over(131km).(Advice needed on terrain and where to sleep/camp)
From Gweta to Maun on tar where we will need to sleep over(205km).(Advice needed on where to sleep/camp)
Any and all advise an suggestions welcome please.
Thank you
