Thanks Petie for the good report and sorry for only commenting now.
My final thoughts:
For me there are a lot of different kind of trips and this one was definitely one of hitting the road and chopping off the miles. For some it might be a waste doing this amount of mileage in 27d. In one way I agree, it is sometimes better to do a proper job and explore all the ins and outs of a country. The big thing about this trip was that we decided this is the route, this is where we are going and we made it happen-with some grace and luck. It was unbelievable to spent that much time per day on my bike, thinking, making sense out of things, trying to solve the worlds problems in my mind and to appreciate that 'guttoral roar' of my bike underneath me.
The other eye opener was that it is not that difficult to make a difference, especially in a childs life. When I look at the photos of the children we spent time with, you can hear their laughter and their voices, fighting just to touch the Muzungus on their big 'HONDA's'.
In my opinion every person should go on a trip like this just to experience the hospitality which in my opinion fades from third world towards first world countries-Mammon is bad! Some of these people that accommodated and helped us made you realise that your presence is a good enough payment for what they do for you, and what a boost for your self respect.
Thanks a lot to John and Cathrine West for their donation towards the Streetwise project.
To my two fellow riders, I couldn't have asked for better people to do it with. No issues, no arguements and two people who can appreciate the smallest of things as much as I do.
To my awesome bike, we had a biggy in the fesh-fesh but she brought me home with minor problems.
Hopefully these trips will never stop and one must be aware that the fake world of everyday living don't swallow you. The real world and its people are out there.
Thanks for reading and all the comments
Till the pomphuis bikers return......
