Okay, so I'm familiar with the basics such as removing the mirrors and screen, but what do you do to get your bike ready for trail riding?

What do you take off/secure/stick to your bike and what should I keep an eye on in terms of parts that regularly break off like flickers.
I can't really afford to buy new parts, so if it's possible to minimize the potential damage then it'll be worth it - prevention is better than cure, right? General tips, personal experiences etc.

Obviously we can't bomb-proof a bike to the point of eliminating any possible damage. I want to start sand riding, so thankfully I won't be dropping the bike on rocks and stones.

(Also, if you know of any specific little thing I should know about off-roading with a 2008 KLR, I'd really appreciate a heads-up!) :thumleft:
