Here we have it. A split second before disaster. Mike was clearly disappointed with the relative ease with which we had managed a long technical day in the saddle, deciding that a final pickup was in order.
Once decided he executed a perfect stationary highside, taking himself, his bike, my bike and last but not least me and throwing us all to the ground in a tangled heap in the centre of the road in front of the hotel.
John Lennon described life as being what happens when you are busy making other plans. This accurately describes my last few weeks. So now I need to complete the tale of when life and the other plans correlated for a brief period.
I did detect a slightly lighter atmosphere at dinner now that we slew the Holgat River dragon successfully. Though, this was dampened by the realization that we only had two days of riding left.
Day 6 dawned with a pensive breakfast, clear skies, cool temperatures and some epic desert riding ahead.
Our mission for the day was to revisit the enigmatic graves we found last year and see if we could pull back some of the mystery around them. Then on to check on a tempting sign we did not have time to explore with the bonus of some food and coffee being offered at De Oude Werf. Our gastronomical tour continues.
