Next time you start your bike, check if the rear brake activates the brake light.
I discovered mine didn't and upon closer inspection, I found that the cable from the switch has been disconnected. I connected the cable and found that the brake light stayed on all the time. The last person to service and check the bike must have thought this to be an easier solution.
Anyway, bought a replacement switch from the dealer for R190 and Bob's your auntie.
