Hi there!
1 May 2011 I will start to work for my self and thought this would be a great time to do a longish trip before I get started...my wife also works for her self.
Im planing a trip for me and my wife in May, shes on the back. We have 2 weeks, maybe 3, depends on how we feel.
Yesterday I brought a massive wall map of Central and Southern Africa and now Im trying to get a route semi planned till then.
Sofar my plan is this:
Jhb to Botswana VIA Groblersbridge. From here to Francistown crossing Plumtree into Zimbabwe. From there up to ManaPools, either small roads or though Harare (I would like to see it).
Then into Zambia and the go to the top of Zambia next to Malawi (Chitipa border), under Tanzania and make our way back down along Lake Malawi. from there go back home via Moz.
This is SOFAR my general idea, but not final at all. I want to stick to dirt roads, but have to keep fuel in mind.
any suggestions or alternative routes, and tips to keep in mind? Fuel, food, water?
We would camp mostly, by choice.
