Rubicon taking her TW200 on a sand ride

Rubicon has been riding a bit of sand with the KLR. Nothing too rough, and including an Atlantis ride. She struggled with the height of the bike.

When an opportunity came to sell my Land Rover discovery, I found her a TW for about the same price. (amazing how much money you can loose on a luxury 4x4!) The TW gives quite a bit more confidence because of the low seat, and the nice fat tyres.

I deflated the tyre to 0.5, and that gave her a nice footprint.

She was a bit nervous when hitting the first whoops!, but by the end of the ride, she was handling it easily. There was a little incident when she burnt herself on the manifold, but luckily the pants took most of the brunt. Had to do some first aid to R5 size blister.

Deon and Roost had a ball in the fire breaks!

I sometimes have to drag her kicking and screaming by the hair, but she is getting the feel of the sand!  :biggrin:

Safe riding is a big concern for me, so I try and get her into the most difficult terrain at slow speeds. Here you learn how to ride properly and fall "safely". Any wrong habit or technique, and you either get very tired or you go down. Or both. (like my Amageza qualifier!)

Its amazing how much you can improve within 2 hours. Simply by getting out there and riding in the crap.

After learning to ride here, gravel roads through the Tankwa becomes a breeze!  :ricky: :ricky:

And the TW is a real confidence booster :thumleft:
