SABI GS CHALLENGE 2009

I just arrived back from the Challenge and believe me .. what a great event! Many thanks to the organisers Thomas and Jacqui from Windmill Wine & Cottages. Approximate 110 people attended the event.

What  a great venue for camping on the banks of the Sabi River! The logistics were abolutely 5 star which included a markee tent, hot showers, clean ablution, a bar, great food and music. The main sponsor Auto Alpina - Denver and his team - thanks so much for providing your mini workshop on site. The center bearing in my steering wheel was loose and could be fixed on site. I also know of a guy that fell early on the route and broke the clutch on his bike - sweeper Mariaan transported the bike to the workshop - it was fixed and the owner could still finish his route. Thanks Lemmy!

The Green / red and Black routes were awesome - travelling through forests and viewing numerous waterfalls. We were lucky ... the heavans opened up with rain Saturday night and if this was the case on Friday - it would have cause many more accidents. A few accidents did however happend - but no major casualties.

1. Marize won the prize fo her guts ... she fell again and again and again ... rookie on a 650GS .. no protective pants .. eina girly! Well done for trying!

Hey Deon ... ja en kyk bietjie my bande .. teerpad bande! Maar ek was lucky - nie een keer geval nie - net omgeval in 'n rivier crossing met groot klippe - gelukkig geen skade aan my fiets nie. Eks oppad ABBG toe April in die Drakensberge - gaan verseker ander bande opsit!

Hey neigbor - i need to get some Wilddog stickers for my bike .. ADV / Journeyman - do i get it from you? Yep - the Lowveld is pretty and green now - we've been having a lot of rain - we were really lucky this weekend - no rain that i know of happened during the week prior. It was quite funny how the guys lined up this morning (kind of to get confidence) to tackle the slippery hill out to the tarr road ... i was one of them ... and to burst my ego .. Denver rescued me .. he pillioned me on my own bike - all the way up without any hassle. Damn - eendag as ek groot is ....  ;D
