The plate welded to the bottom of the foot of my previous BMW F800GS side stand was a bit heavy, not the right shape and scraped on the ground when lowering the stand often.
On my new F800GS I did not make the same mistake. A piece of 3mm steel cut to a right angle, welded to the existing foot and grind down did the trick.
