On my way to the office in Sandton this morning I was overtaking a km long string of cars as I do every morning when I was asked to pull over. I was told that I am not allowed to "go the wrong way up a one way". English not being a strong point of the official.
I just played dumb( although my wife is certain that this is my natural state) and after him inspecting the bike license and my driver's license , he waved me on with a warning! ;D
Initially I was upset, but then I realised that this is probably what we need more of in SA. Visible policing that interacts with the road users and is reasonable. There was no sign of aggression or anything other than professional behaviour. A guy just doing his job!
I just hope he got the taxis that also overtake the cars as if they are bikes!! > ;D
