Man I cant believe what I have read. First time back on the forum since January (talk about a rat race) Man I met Glen at Rhodes when Nutty Chef said guys were coming to breakfast. They were Carrots Jupiter and Glen. Had the normal chat what bike, where is home and said when I get back to the area I will look Glen up and now its not possible.
Thanks Carrots and Be Blessed to Glens family. What a 30 minute chance meeting can do to, to make you sit up and reflect on taking time to share.

Tonight...is 11 weeks. Feels like yesterday.
So....earlier today....I phoned Irma....Glen's Mom like I do every now and again...just to check how she is doing.
We make small talk and stuff.....and then she pops the question: "Can I arrange....that we as the WD's....come pick up Glen's ashes....and go put it in a place......where we think is best"
Sjoe.......didn’t expect that….at all.......*knop in die keel*
Of course Tannie.....and there is only one place for that.

So....with the National Bash in Snow Valley at the end of September....close to Rhodes...maybe we can make a plan.
The shortest road from Rhodes to Dordrecht is close to 190kms. To ride there on the Saturday morning...kuier bietjie met die Tannie...ride back....and Bastervoet.....go place (strooi) his ashes and back to the campsite...might be a tall task. Or stupid rather. But we…travel…on gravel…and don’t want to take the shortest route.
I have never done Bastervoet....but if it is anything like Douw and Veldtie experienced on the way back from the funeral....it is a kak plan. From what Glen told me…Bastervoet on a good day is 2 hours…on a bad day…it can be more than a day…..literally. Weather and conditions of course. Maybe Buks, Edgy, Veldtie, Douw and other Honne can give a bit more insight as to what to expect.
Myself and IDR so far have planned a two day trip to get there and to be by the Bash site around lunch on the Friday. I don't normally do outrides on bashes...I enjoy spending time with new and old Honne and just to relax. We normally make road trips of getting there...and getting back home.
But this is different.
So...I would like to think that there might be some people....who couldn't make the funeral..to pay respect to Glen's Mom.
What I'm thinking...is that myself and IDR will be at the Bash site on the Thursday eve. Set up camp and chill. Then leave Friday morning early on the awesome back roads that Glen showed us to Dordrecht. Have a brunch by the Tannie...and maybe other Honne on the way to the Bash can join in. The more the merrier. I can only but imagine how she would feel if a bunch of us rock up there...even if it is just to say hi.
Leave with Glen's ashes back to Snow Valley later that day.
The Saturday morning...for those that want to...we leave Snow Valley...do Bastervoet.....strooi his ashes...pay respect...and go back to SnowValley and have have a party. The way he would have liked it. KTSSSSK!
Brian (Smuggy his Boet) and Lynn are happy with the arrangements and cannot see a better way to pay respect for Glen and for what he loved most. They will both ensure that they are there…hell or high water.
It is a great honour and privilege.....that she bestowed on me.....and I would like to make the most of it. I know of many Honne that never met him…but talked twak and warra warra on the forum all the time that would like to pay respect.

Ek's ook in Roots en thanks boetie. Het hoeka na die begrafnis nie by die klip stapel uitgekom nie so nou het ons almal 'n gulde geleentheid om dit sommer saam te gaan doen. Properly.
From the bash venue we can get to the top of Baster from Rhodes side if the weather doesn't play ball on the Saturday.
Might be easier for us toppies with tanks anyway.
But maybe Jupiter can also help with some advise.

Ek op my KLR, my broer op Honda Rincon quad en vriend op BMW 800 was nou die 21ste Maart by Bastervoetpad uit.
Goeie blikemmer! dit was rof
, Daai pad word glad nie onderhou nie, dis net klippe en slote. Ek't n paar keer my broer probeer oorreed dat ons eerder moet ruil en ek die 4x4 quad moet vat.
Drie pros (hulle was goed gekit, lol) op KTMs het ons so halfpad verby gevat, dit nie gelyk asof hulle dit te moeilik vind nie.
Ongelukkig het ons so gespook en gekonsentreer om bo uittekom dat ons nie foto's gevat het nie.
Ek wil julle manne nou nie afsit nie, maar ek sal voorstel dat julle nie op groot swaar bikes kom vir Bastervoetpad nie, en as julle darem so paar is kan julle mekaar uithelp.
Ek kan die roete ook moontlik n naweek of so voor die tyd gaan ry en foto's vir julle opsit, ek sal natuurlik die Rincon gebruik :biggrin:
