My wife has deliberated for a long time on whether or not to sell her beloved XR400R. She has probably only done about 3000kms since she bought it, but its just too tall for her.
She rekons that if it was a shorter bike there is no way she would sell it. She has recently bought a DR650 and has finally convinced herself, and decided to part ways with it.
Bike is a 2004 model.
Milage is about 14000kms - I will have to double check that.
Had new Mitas E-07 tyres fitted about 1500kms ago.
New o-ring chain and sprockets fitted about 700kms ago.
Yoshimura end can fitted. Sounds fantastic!!
I removed the original indicators and fitted el cheapos, as the OEM flickers are hellish expensive to replace.
Bike has a home made rack at the back to carry a backpack or bag for that road trip.
The wife fell off and broke the original speedo unit. We have replaced it with a generic unit which works just fine. I thought that the gearing would be way off when I originally bought it, But according to my GPS the speed is about 3kms slower that what the gps says.
The plastics have the usual wear and tear for its age. Still looks good to me though :thumleft:
I softened the suspension quite a lot to try and get the bike lower to the ground when she was sitting on it, So the new owner will need to reset the suspension to suit.
I have changed the oil and filter every 1000kms. And if we rode a very dusty ride, I would change the oil before the next ride.
Air filter gets washed and oiled after every ride!
Replaced the clutch cable about a two months ago.
License and paperwork is up to date. disk is still valid till 08-2017 or there abouts
