My Montana was stolen from my bakkie.  I had to replace the unit, my insuance will do their bit here.  The issue is the Mapset.  According to Garmin SA, the mapset from the stolen unit cannot be transferred to the new unit.  It is R 1000 odd for the new mapset.  I feel that it is my mapset, and if I want to use it on another unit, I should be able to do so.  I have the serial no, unlock code, etc.  Anyone else had this "attitude" from Garmin?

Here is their response:

"Unfortunately if a unit is stolen the map set can’t be transferred to a new unit.

Attached is a blacklisting form I need you to complete for me.
I also need a police report stating that the unit belongs to you sir."

I am also wondering which policeman can state the the stolen unit belongs to me?  They will have to take my word for it.  It was registered on their website when I bought it after all...
