Friday dawns and the weather looks great, a bit of cloud cover things should stay cool. Our trip is to gravel up to Stutterheim and explore the surroundings.
I decide to use Goga my 2008 for this trip as Hennie and myself will be doing a few passes which I was told could get a bit technical .I phoned Edgy and asked about the Devils bellows pass and he said it should be fine in dry weather, well that soon changed and Edgys ears must have been ringing. We entered the devils bellows with a visibility between 1-4meters through mist and rain and soon I remembered Edgy saying if the pass has rain there will be mud and slides all the way. I decided we do the Katberg pass instead and the Devils Bellow on Saturday when the rain buggered off, well soon the camera was packed away from the rain and we started our ascent up the Katberg pass well I was soon to discover this was not good judgement as the Katberg pass is worse than the Devils bellows and Edgy confirms this NOW!I can tell you all now sliding up and down the pass I was sweating big time but luckily no falls between the two of us,so I can say it was semi fun but next time I will do it when it is dry. It was disappointing because we could not see any of the views from up there.
On with some photos of the trip and the many varied terrains we went through.
1=warming up to the roads
2=drought is bad everywhere
3=a lovely sight to see
4=birds eye view
5=and now nothing on the other side
