Suspension advice for R9T Urban GS 40 year anniversary edition

I recently bought a R9T urban GS 40 year anniversary edition. Beautiful bike and BMW has really made it special with some very cool pieces. BUT the suspension is horrible. I am 1.84 and weigh around 98 and the damn suspension feels like every bump in the road goes into my spine. I played around with the rear suspension but I think the issue is not the adjustment but the suspension itself (front and rear). Any advice as to what would work? I really dont want to take the bike offroad (those purple headers are just to damn nice) but in a non-40 year anniversary edition I probably would have pimped it for that purpose (think it could actually make an awesome gravel road bike). So looking for something with more travel and comfort.
