If you've ever seen pictures of Moab, Utah, then you've probably also thought to yourself, "Damn, I have to ride there one day".

Well, one day happened to me this month... I was perusing Facebook and saw an ad for a Husqvarna FE501 in Los Angeles, California. Despite being on a different continent, I called the number and ended up buying a bike in the USA!

What follows is a series of video clips I made to share my adventure with my family on WhatsApp.

These videos were never meant for public viewing, but I figure that some of you may also enjoy the pics and stories.

Some context: My wife (Jessy) and I have spent the last few years riding our bikes around South America. We plan to ride Central America sometime next year and we're going to need to buy some bikes to ride.

No big ADV bike for us anymore. We've seen the light and lighter is better :) So, our shopping list is short - buy two KTM 500s or two Husky FE501s. Buying this bike was an opportunity to gather our first bike and have an impromptu adventure.

That being said, let's do this.

More to come tomorrow...

Lekker

I like the video - your face and voice make the pics and story more personable

I like the video

Me too well done and congrats with the new bike!! Happy trails. :thumleft:

That is a very novel and engaging way to do this.

Bravo!
Thanks man. Glad you like it. I got tired of posting tons of pics and then writing commentary. My last ride report (the Kaokoland one) took 26 hours to write.

This is my compromise.

For anyone wodering, I'm using a screen recorder app called AZ Recorder (Android) because it allows me to include myself in the video too.

Yes, I really liked this.

And yes, I am one of those that thought; "I just have to go ride Moab sometime"

Of course, it is daydreaming, but the opposite of a nightmare, at least.

Great stuff and what a fresh way to tell the story. Well done mate.. :thumleft:

Great format of presenting your report 👍 The first installment is brilliant !

Nice report. Easiest way to get rid of the square is move your "face" to the right side of the screen? (as per 7:22, just further to the righ)

DAYS 3 & 4

After 2 days in Vegas working on the bike and visiting some old friends, I head to St George, Utah via a gorgeous National Park.

If I ever sound sleepy in the videos, it's because I was exhausted after 10 hours of riding. Enjoy...
