Screw the rules.  :)

Go ride the road anyway you see fit. Most important is to go enjoy it and come home in one piece.   :ricky:

1. Single bike to be ridden there, down, up and back.
2. Photographic evidence...bike + rider + location, location location.. (x-rays of fractured limbs doesn't count)

4. Video footage of at least part of the decent / ascent is necessary.
Not all of us are aspiring Steven Spielbergs... In my case I don't even have a video camara

5. You should ride your bike on your own in and out. No pushing, pulling or lifting assistance is allowed.
Part of the trip will be planning it, getting there, and using teamwork to overcome..

These 5 rules are so spot-on.

And you have 1) a video camara, and 2) know how to operate one   ???

Tend to agree with RofRat...no rules
But if you are a contender for DS awesomeness, adhere to the first two

1. The bike you do it on must be registered and licensed and street legal - lights, flickers, hooter, etc - THAT RULES OUT ANY FULL TIME ENDURO / MX PLASTICS OR TRIAL BIKES - this will just be too easy
2. You need to ride the bike there and back - no towing allowed - no trailers or bakkies
3. You need to produce a photo of yourself and your bike taken next to the Orange River at the bottom of the road.
4. Video/photo footage of at least part of the decent / ascent is necessary.
5. You should ride your bike on your own in and out. No pushing, pulling or lifting assistance is allowed.
6. You are not allowed to ride more than 150km on the N7 or any other tar road to get there.

If I fly my bike up and drop it just before the entrance to The Hell Road, ride the bike down it and back up, fly it home. I have still ridden The Hell Road. Plain and simple.  :ricky:

I agree, you would have done the road. But for me to hook up a trailer with KDX on it, offload at entrance of RTH, ride it and return, then brag on Wilddogs that I have "achieved" this would be very kak style. So by all means ride the road on your 450/200 etc, but do not tell anyone, as it would be no feat whatsoever.

Next we're going to have to go through scutineering:

Kill switch - check
License - check
Proper kit - check
Space blanket - check
:deal:

I'm with R-O-V here, do it your own way. You're not doing it for anyone else.

Except maybe bragging rights...  >:D

Rule 5 seems a bit harsh.

Isn't half the point of these adventures to help each other get through?

Otherwise it seems too much like a trials competition.

With a KTM 950 SE you fuck up your tyre before you even get there because we are talking 1800+ km.
For you okes its a mere 700, 800 km
Or will Ploegskaar be allowed to do a tyre change at the campsite in his mobile tyrevan?

................Maybe the next rule is going to be that you HAVE TO do it on one set of tyres,..............or maybe that you HAVE TO carry some tampons............. :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer:.............FFS!

As ek gaan TRAILER ek Noordkaap toe

No need for rules - just grow a pair and ride the fuckin road.............on 2 wheels

:drif: :drif:

Ps, en as dit kom by die reels stem ek saam met Beserker , dink die mans mag mekaar stoot .
