Seeing that I am currently out of work and not that busy, I was invited to ride as a back-up driver on the trip by King Louis here on the forum, with the thinking that I can learn the ropes and be paid for it and have free accommodation food etc and have a two weeks break from the job hunting with the proviso that I offer the odd helping hand, do a diligent job of following the guys on the bikes and assist where I can. Need a second invite? Never I am there :thumleft:

So I will let the pics do the talking and a great drone video that one of the guys put together at the end. Flew in to meet the guys after they had flown a few days earlier to do the Vic Falls touristy things, have the rental bikes meet us at the lodge on the morning of departure - quick once over and away we go, destination Cape Town two weeks later via Botswana, Namibia and then CT.

A sunset cruise the day before departure

Along the way - hopefully KingLouis will fill in the details :thumleft: You can also see the clown of the trip

And the big hole we patched with around 14 plugs that got us the 100km to the next town to fit with a new tyre

Guess the problem here!!!! Garage owner tried to inflate/deflate tyres and snapped off the valve - managed to find a place that fitted a tube for us in the middle of no where and lasted for the remainder of the trip - 18 inch tube if I remember correctly!!!!

Nice one Pete, keep it coming :thumleft:

Last day towards Cape Town and we come across this - undeterred one of the group says no problem, he will test it - very capable rider - and off he goes over the bridge ;D So we all follow and it was my lucky day that King Louis had a dodgy stomach and so asked if he could bring up the rear in the 4x4 as he could as he could see he would need to make a few emergency stops in the bush, so I had the LC for the day :) :) :) :)

Having a valve snap is the worst. Had one snap off on me back in 2010 doing the BMW ECO 1000, had to spend most of the first day in a van. Glad you got a tube.

Awesome Pete  :thumleft:

Lovely stuff ! Thanks for posting the video - brings it to life

thanks Pistol...yep, was a great trip. Anytime with you again, will work on it!

The weir was the concrete causeway over the Olifants river towards Algeria. The burnt down house is Hotel Seeheim in Namibia, which was burnt down by an ex employee of them, new status: inmate.

Back to the drawing board now, need some more tours.....will be in touch.

If anybody needs more info, send pm...
