This is not an entirely new subject and I did read all tyre related threads on our forum and I hope you are not tired (pun intended) of it.
What is your best recommendation for
1) Tar: front - rear; a: best grip; b: best mileage
2) 50/ 50 Tar/ gravel road front - rear; a: " b: "
3) gravel road/sand/off track front - rear; a: " b: "
One fool can ask more questions than a hundred wise men can answer ...
I am not riding very fast or rally-style, and I have much more experience on tar than gravel; not to mention sand.
My experience so far:
I loved the original Metzeler Karoo, on tar and on gravel - sand I cannot say - but they were gone very soon.
I had Pirelli Scorpions which were dandy on tar but obviously lacked bite on soft surfaces and gave me some serious steering wobble on gravel and sandy patches. (short but intensive story!)
I had Continental TKC 80, which strangely enough seemed my best compromise so far.
I had Michelin Desert which were the best for my taste on loose surfaces but showed some rather interesting behaviour on tar.
And: I never mixed brands so far. Anything I did not mention I never tried on the 950 SE.
So please: if anybody who has a 950 SE (different to 950 Adventure due to geometry) is not tired of warming up this old potjie: give me your opinion.
Thanks in advance and keep the black side down.
