Due to a problem with a bike's charging system the battery ran flat. Showing about 2.5 V.

The manufacturers specify that only their charger should be used..........  I have yet to come across somebody who has one.
So.....  I tried hooking up a CTEK to it:  It shows open circuit on the charger, it doesn't see a battery.

I hooked up a normal charger in series with my multimeter, set to Amps. Shows NO Amps.
But if you touch the terminals with the charger's output leads it sparks quite violently, and the charger's ammeter jumps offscale high.
After I just touched it twice the battery indicates 6.5 V. (although I don't believe it is halfway to being fully charged).

My understanding is that these batteries act similar to a capacitor, not so much as a battery.

Any ideas on charging it???
