Just joined - and new to the forum. Been living in Cape Town for a couple of years now (from the UK originally) and only riding bikes for about as long.
Currently desperately seeking a 990 or 950 adventure. Was riding a 650 dakar until recently when it burst into flames! But the insurance paid up and by squeezing out a little extra cash I think I can upgrade a little if I can just find a bike with a relaistic price.
The 650 apparently had, at some point in its life, had a new engine sensor fitted and it appears like it had the wrong grade of wire attached to it, which eventually melted through, shorted out and started the fire. Fairly freak occurance I am led to believe! Bit of a shame as it only had 20,000 KMs on it and was in pretty nice condition - but its a good excuse to upgrade!
