V-Strom owners please help

Are there any long term V-Stormers who can give me some honest advice about off road ability ?

I ride mostly on tar but do want to be able to do Sani or Baviaans or similar every now & then.

I'm looking to replace my GSA and frankly have no faith in the reliability of either BMW or KTM.
