So, as per the service manual, the 800's engine needs a valve clearance check every 20k km's.
Both the the 650 twin, and the 700 share the same engine as the 800. (Different valving and crankshaft but the same shims are being used)
Now for the interesting part. I replace my bike's air filter every service and not every 20k km's as suggested.
I commute mostly so don't get around to dirt as much as I would like. That being said, I had to shim 1 valve at 60k kms and now I need to shim all of them at 80k km's.
BMW doesn't stock shims, there aren't even any available in Midrand.
So....do you still believe your valve clearances are being checked and corrected?
