WANTED: Commuter Bike or advice regarding one

Hi guys.

Don't know if I should post this in General Bike related banter rather?

I have managed to lure my colleague to the biking world, and now he is considering getting a bike for commuting only.

What bikes would you suggest? He doesn't want a big thing, so I suggested he looks at Honda (CBR125/250, NC700 (which is probably already too big), Yamaha (not sure what models) and MAYBE KTM Duke 125 (although I think it will be too expensive for the purpose he intends using it for).

Any suggestions? Anything available?
