Maybe I should donate one to Juda to keep that KTM onroad  :deal: :imaposer:

But ok in all honesty; that KTM is a machine and a half  :3some:

Lekker Tom dankie vir die deel  :thumleft:

Goeie foto's maak 'n RR net soveel beter. Ek dink dis tyd dat ek 'n kamera kry

Now that is how you treat a new XT660z...by taking it for a very nice long ride :thumleft:

I was the muppet at the start of "The Hell" on the white XT660z with the Enduristan bags. Glad you guys made it and that it was enjoyable...it surely was a hot day in The Hell that day.

Nice meeting you [member=3760]Stroke Her[/member] ! My son was so excited to see another XT660Z and then he told me you sounds just as impulsive as I am since you were at that stage 'thinking of maybe going'  :imaposer:

Yes that Enduristan bags on his XT660Z is exactly the same as yours and he has toured over 2 weeks with it. Handed it back to me now (he hacked mine  :lol8: )

Agree is was a hot day!!
Cheers  :thumleft:

Thanks, Tom, for sharing. Brilliant pics as usual!!!

Die Hel and Montague Pas bring back fond memories of my mountain biking days in the Cape. So sad to see the valley of Die Hel all black and charred.

Mountain biking through these passes must be quite something, I would also love to hike a couple especially 'the Hell' only with a rucksack and minimalist camping gear.

We have serviced the XT660Z today; new oil filter, oil, spark plug, washed the DNA filter with the proper solution and oiled it and he replaced the usb power point with a cigaret powerpoint to be able to power the air compressor - the kit is available from Runner complete with inline fuse. I also fitted a new rear tyre on the NCx since the tyre is near the wear indicator and I had a puncture close to home and plugged it.....but never felt comfy riding with that 'snot wurm'.

Tomorrow the fat OEM silencer box (very heavy) will get replaced by an Air-age can and a tool tube 'side by side'. The XTZ also got a new rear tyre that came off my old Transalp years ago - the tyre was brand new but I did not want to commute on knobbies and fitted a new road orientated tyre.
The XTZ passed the vehicle test station with flying colours and all the paperwork was submitted.
Chris is now prioritizing on what else to do since he will soon go back to collage for more studies and he is also going to do his wiremans licence.

Quite a memorable trip it was and somehow Oudshoorn grew on me.....I did not spent much time there but felt at home and my mind often wanders off in that direction!

It was a very nice experience for the young men, there is an interesting fella working there with some star knowledge and we had the clearest view of stars I have experienced since Gough Island!

That dog is legend. When I was there about 2 years ago it was pissing with rain and I had some biltong in my bag for the lunch stops. The dog ended up sleeping next to my bed the whole night after opening the tent on his own. It was was 1.3 degrees outside so needless to say I let him be. Having a donkey shower at 7:00 in the morning with temp sitting at 3 degrees was an experience!

Sad to see the kloof took such a beating. Think it's time to take a few guys on a trip there.

Thanks for sharing. Sharing such experiences with your dad/son/daughter is something to cherish forever!

Thanks for the cool photos and RR. We live in helluva beautiful country.  :thumleft:

Lekker RR met mooi fotos. Dankie vir die deel :thumleft:

Sadly thos caravans are no more but the new stone cottages sounds like n better plan.
Definitely worth a future visit!

Top shelf RR, Tom, thanks for sharing.

A few of the places that grabbed my eyes:

The church in Graff-Rynet, what's the name of the church?  Without a doubt, I've seen that church somewhere before, TV, magazine, I don't know, but that place is unforgettable.

The place where Dorslands buddy let you fix your machines, I like that style, lots of old memorabilia, shell pumps, mobil, valvoline, Ford signs, very very kooool.

Deezel n Cream looks like a nice place to spend a couple of hours.

The dog at the camp would've been invited to sleep in my tent, as he would alert me to predators.  Looks like a great great dog.

That is the Durch Reformed church in Graaff-Reinet
The build started in 1886 April and based on the lines of Salisbury Cathedral in England - it was the 4th Dutch reformed church build and the 3rd on the very same site. The previous one served the community over half a century but was badly damaged in a fire being a thatched roof building.
Quite a well known landmark of the town and one of the most beautiful churches in SA.

Yes the dog at "Angie's G spot" is a "Boerboel' and they are big friendly and fierce, very popular dog species here.
I doubt if there are actually any dangers out there other than cobras.

Oh, only cobras to worry about huh?  :patch:  No thank you, I live in a state with no deadly snakes and I like it that way!

Once again I had a nice aerial view of Die Hel on Tuesday flying from here to CT.  The flight path is just north of the Swartberg so on the left of the aircraft going to CT.One can clearly see Prince Albert and the pass behind it and the long road snaking its way to the west to the valley of Die Hel.
