I know there's a whole lot of guys with fond memories of their 50cc scoots from the old days but I was wondering today about this. 25yrs or so there were thousands of these things buzzing around, now they can't be found !
As I understand, when the law changed and allowed 16/17 yrs old to ride up to 125cc, there was just no point in buying a 50cc anymore.
BUT I can't imagine that the law change in a small biking country like SA is the reason that Honda, Yammie, Suzuki and Kawa stopped producing these bikes. Or more realistically, was it a fact that these Jap bike producers decided to no longer make 50's that forced the law change in SA?
Are 50's still produced en mass? I'm not talking about 50cc kiddies MX bikes but proper sized schoolboy transport.
Just a random brainfart for the day
