I'm looking at taking the family (wife, 5yr old and toddler) on a loop in January:
Joburg -> Wakkerstroom -> St Lucia -> Durbs (for uShaka) -> Midlands somewhere -> Giants Castle/Golden Gate -> Joburg
The only bit I'm really not sure about is St Lucia. I'm hearing conflicting reports. I remember it as a kid and it was amazing. My 5yr old needs to see more of a variety of landscapes that this country has to offer and the whole forest/wetland/estuary thing would be great.
Still good? Any accommodation recommendations?
Should I be heading to Sodwana instead?
