Baviaans!!!!
:blob10: :blob3: :blob5: :blob6: :blob7: :blob9:
So the long awaited trip eventually came together!
Day 1
The plan would be for 4 Gautengers............. Orangeswifty, Bud500, Franna and Rooi to trailer to somewhere in the eastern Cape Karoo Midlands on Thursday 12 May , leave the bakkie and trailer and travel to PE from there on the bikes.
In PE we would hook up with Murphy and Jules haf a lekke pardie :bar: wiff copious amounts of alcoholic beverages and maybe some grub and depart the next morning to Patensie and the Baviaans through the Elandsriver highlands road. :
For some of us it would be the first trip through the Baviaans and the many stories of its natural beauty and riding bliss status had been drummed into us by previous ridereports on the forum.
We would hook up with the Cape Town crowd consisting of Heimer, Cocky and Veldbrand who had stayed over at Veldtie's spot at the Dwarsbar on Thursday evening.
We left at 2am in the morning and initially planned to leave the bakkie at Nieu Bethesda and travel to PE from there but after chatting to Bie at Jansenville decided to leave the vehicle there and depart on the roughly 200km remainder trip to PE from there.
We arrived at Bie's spot in town around 11am and unloaded the bikes quickly, had a cuppa brew with Bie and his lovely wife and did our first stretch of road, on Bie's insistence 20km out on the R75 tar to Wolwefontein, and left onto the R400 to Addo and Darlington dam. A pristine little 2 spoor farm road turns right just 50 metes on the R400 going down to Glenconnor through the mountains and past the most fantastic game farms, Lots of wildlife and Kudus surprising us on every second turn. We eventually linked up with the R75 to Uitenhage and PE again and from there it was a kakboring ride on tar to try and reach our meeting point at Barneys on the beachfront in PE.
I was hoping to get to see my son at Barneys who is living in PE...........allas - it was not to be!.............pitty!
Next Day to follow...........
Please add your 2 cents and phodies in the meantime gents................
