To Makedaat Caves part 2
Once we cleared Smitskraal the ride became a plethora of riverhopping excursions with some of the holes being rather larger than we thought. I remember going into one hole in third at about 70 and the bow wash was reminiscent of a bass boat at full tilt with a 300 hp engine at the back...........wet from head to toe ..........and inside your ears :ricky: :ricky:
Twat!
The next stop was at the little shop where the fuel pump used to be.
Be warned not to expect fuel in the Baviaans.
We had to get the old duck who owned the shop up from the house at the lower end of the property and it took her another 20 minutes to get there.
In the meantime we were waiting for Rooi and Franna who were at the back of the pack. Apparently Rooi who was second last had turned off to a kraal to inspect what is going on there and on his return to the main turned back along in the main rd to look for Franna. In the meantime Franna had passed him and waited further on for him. Eventually Franna turned back and went to look for Rooi who was waiting with his camera at the ready at a watercrossing............only to find Franna coming from the other side............... :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer:
2 twats waiting for each other and a bunch of twats waiting for the two of them.................
Well............at least we had some warm Zammaleks to drink (from the tannies shop where the fridge probably still is not working.................. and wait for the bakkie to arrive with a coupla cold ones :drif:
The next piece of road reminds of that road in the Nothern Cape between Brandvlei and van Wyksvlei where you get meters of clearance over serious humps in the road just by traveling a healthy 180 on your bony.
More so probably for Jules with that Monster 1190 who later on in the weekend clocked a mad 245km/h or something on that beast!!
:
Arriving at Makedaat caves we were seriously impressed with the built closed overhang caves with boma for a braai, hot shower and outhouse with water as well as some play equipment for the child in us.
The cave had a full kitchen and sleeping place for 6 and a cosy firestove inside to keep away the cold.
We made a lekke fire and waited for the 3 Capies to arrive. When the proviant vehicle arrived some Brand T's and beers as well as 3 dark green square botties of cough mixture with reindeer on was unpacked!
The evening around the fire was filled with plenty of stories and jokes. The cameraderie of this crowd you don't get often.
Silly grown ups with an affinity for riding bikes and the care of fellow bikers at heart.
Great mates with a history of making normal riding trips memorable events.
Jan and Murphy ended up walking to the other cave a kilo or so up into the valley but told us the next morning they had probably walked 2 k's. The uphill parts were a 2 forward one backward sort of step! :
We laughed so loud.......I think Cocky probably pissed himself at one occasion :thumleft:
Two of the more thinner boned individuals each broke a plastic chair with their tender physique and they had to go into the fire! >
Everyone was in bed at around 2ish with variable degrees of pass-out to keep away the cold
The Kip was comfortable with the inside woodstove keeping the place nice and toasty.....................
The next day we were going to Willowmore for a brekkie followed by a trip through Bhejane to Steytlerville on dirt and back to the Caves via a dirt road next to the mountainrange where one of the 3 little piggies would get a mudbath.................. :deal:
