Nice pics...real Adventure...did you have a pillion if so was the bike rideable? - Carlos

no pillion

but I plan on taking a pillion up the mountain in the future. Will comment then

Enjoyed your report LS :thumleft:

Airhawk pillion seat to counter the monkey butt and D606's for better grip and you are set.

Fantastic writing Striker. You have the gift.  :headbang:

Interesting you say the dr turns in faster - is that because of the rake? Must admit I loved the look of the bertrand's Xchallenge when we met for the Parys ride.

Lekker ride Ls,Enjoyed your report and the roads in the forrest look Awsome.
Take me with you next time !

It’s a ass killer DS bike and what better place to use it than on tough travels as opposed to wimpy guesthouse-to-guesthouse cruises ;D

fixed

I summise the XR400's seat feels the same

Sleeping in the forest is the best. Nothing comes close to it. It's because of your Knysna forest sleepover report that I started doing it. See, you're an inspiration ;D

Big plus on being sensitive to the environment. :thumleft:

Nice

Cool report! Forestry areas are normally "unmanned" Saturday afternoons and Sundays, so it's sort of safe to go there. I suppose if you have an accident and need to be airlifted out, it'll cause a few frowns. But agreed, plastic bikes in those areas will ruin it for everybody. Since we saw the kwats on the Highlands Rd two years ago, most of the turn-offs to the lekker roads have been closed.  :(

Great report LS, and great pics :thumleft:. Glad to see you back in the swing of things (as an academic question, exactly how many months since baby arrived is it now...?)

I love this one: check those skid marks and the missing stones

That little trail down to Doolhof can catch you out if you're not careful!

Cool shakedown cruise LS! Glad the bike is living up to expectations, it sure is pretty enough. Don't know how you did it after Friday night, though. Ek was moer moeg.

Nice report.
Was interested to see Doolhof.  I did a lot of research in Platter looking for good reasonably priced red blends & learned of Doolhof through that.  Bought Renaissance (expensive), Cape Roan & Cape Boar (both reasonably priced).  Very happy with it.  Also Sauvignon Blanc.

Long time since we seen a LS report, great to see again.
Nice bike.

Great report with awsome photos and brilliantly written.

Thanks for taking the time to stop and take the photos and write the report.
