Mmmm...... not posted in a while.
My favourite Zumo GPS caught me out with a new error that seems quite prevalent amongst quite a few of the Garmin models once I searched the net.
"Missing System Software"
Avnic were not too helpful so I did some google-ing.
Problem occurs when power is interrupted or a file is corrupted during a software update. No system software means that the unit can not be â??seenâ? by your PC and basically you are ..ucked. The flash needs to be re-flashed.
Solution
Go to this site and download the USB drivers, the .rgn file and the updater.exe file (3 files).
ftp://89.96.140.43/Missing%20SW%20Zumo/
1.Install the USB drivers.
2.Connect the unit.
3.Drag and drop the .rgn file onto the updater.exe application.
4.Select the USB option and follow instructions further.
If you have a similar problem with another Garmin GPS, follow the links to the root of the above link and check if your particular unit is listed there.
Saved myself a ride Avnic anyway......
