Once upon a time I received a box and inside the box was this

A long, long time ago, before it went into the box, it looked like this

This was a classic, and having had an RS in my younger days, I always yearned for one again, so the plan was to restore it to its former glory. There was no rush as in the meantime I was doing this

The R80 was then finished and we spent many happy kilo's together. It was time to get on with the project, but then this crossed my path, so the need for the restoration got shelved

Then my BIG friend forced the Zen bike on me

I was now a complete and happy Airhead. The project was sitting in the carport under covers and I was very confused about it

But I'm not sentimental, so along came Dirty Boy and smokkelled the RS out of me. I was OK with that, as I still had the project to restore. Then along came Dodo and smokkelled the R80 out of me. I was OK with that too, because I could always build a dirt bike out the project, which has long been on my mind.

Its been two years since I've finished the R80 and I was in need of a Build project. All I've been doing was maintaing bikes and the frustration levels were high, not least because I could not make up my mind what to do with the Project.

With Freak and his Bobbers, the CR's and other builds going on I was really confused, but they're not my style although I enjoy admiring the art.

There's the GKG, I need a bike, and thoughts of an HPN variant crossed my mind. But there was no WOW factor. I needed inspiration, direction, something.

Then a while back there was a video posted of this oke in America who builds these Truimph Tripple Scramblers. That's what I want... a real DS Airhead !

My mind was finally made up... I wanted a scrambler and then I saw this pic on the Bike Porn thread  :drif: At last my life has direction again

Something like that. Its long term, but if possible I want it done by March next year. Work will start after the Bash, but don't hold your breaths. Important is that I've made the decision to get going and putting myself on the spot by starting my build report.

I'm not finicky. You can keep me busy in the meantime by bashing this thread as much as you like. Hope you have as much fun with the build as I am looking forward too. All ideas are welcome.

See you in the workshop. BTW, this is my first ever build report
