This is episode 1 of our "SIDETRACKED, with Honda" series, where we plan a social ride with our Western Cape friends and followers in the Cederberg. But first... we have to get there.
We start with basic route formulation, planning, accommodation sourcing, and fuel considerations for large groups. Then, we quickly refer to bike preparation, the tools we carry, what to pack, our choice of luggage systems, and finally, we give some tips on how to make the Africa Twin's Electonic Suite more user-friendly.
Then, we kick off the SIDETRACKED Tour when we head into the Nort-West and Free State.

The Fraserburg - Loxton dirt highway looks just the same.

Excellent episode, what a bummer to leave two buddies behind, emotional stuff and not nice, but that is what it is, that's why they call it an adventure. Hope the two recovered completely from their injuries.
Great gravel highways in the Karoo, I feel the need to go back, sooner than later. Personally I would've taken the Loxton, Oukloof Pass, Merwerville, Rammelkop Pass route to Sutherland instead off over Frazerburg, much more scenic, but I suppose time was against you guys.

Indeed, time was the determining factor. The original plan was to ride down Ouberg pass on the way to the Tankwa, but with the size of the group and the varied riding ability, we decided to keep it straight and short.
Those other roads will make an appearance... a little later in the series.
