Has anybody drowned their 800gs in a river and the display unit blanks out.? Any ideas on how to make them work again , or who knows of 2nd hand display units for sale.
The dash lights work and all the electronics work , but no display.
I have a set of Karroo 3 that i use for trips. Take them off and let them stand in my garage until the next trip and put the E07 on for daily use. I bought them in 2014. Any ideas of how long tyres can stand unused before they become "lewens gevaarlik' ??

My 2c worth. Im sure the more visible you are the better , might not prevent the U turn but certainly imho you might just be seen if you are more visible.
I look like a Christmas tree with orange headlight/luminous green vest just to be sure that maybe more people will see me.
MY 2009 GS 800 had similar rear shock failure going through Baviaans last year in April. Oil poured out over the swingarm.
Only 32 000km on the clock.
Had to ride back to CT on the back spring.
To confuse the issue even further. I was in Frans Conradie St yesterday and saw a GOLD Audi Q5 with the number plate
SHUMI 7.

I used to ride a GS and then bought a Dakar. These side panels I used to swop when going away on a trip. They are scratched and well worn. The fitting holes are all perfect. R300
The windscreen was made by ACRYL trading. They are specialists in Perspex. Very strong and well made.

Just completed a trip through Baviaanskloof (30th April - 4th may) on my "newish" 800gs. Have been through the area before on my Dakar and was really looking forward to seeing what the 800 could do. To my amazement and "disgust".... the rear shock collapsed on the way down HOLGAT pass. Oil...
I popped in at flying brick and bought the AMA rain suit. Just my luck. :)
The heavens opened in the Cape this morning... This rain suit works. :biggrin:
