1150 GS 2001 with black enjine

Hi guy's.I'm new at this but must say I love my 1150 GS (2001).A but of a adjustment from the Dakar but I can understand the folowing these bikes have.In all the pictures and bikes that I have seen the engine is the silver metal colour.My engine is black.I was told that it is the European speck?Why the difference.Thx again.
