Below is a short ride report of the Rebelz annual Zinyala trip.
For the guys that were there, please feel free to add your pics and experiences of the weekend

About a week before the trip [member=6768]Orangeswifty[/member]  sent us the planned route. It looked awesome to say the least and I was getting very excited.
I set of on my 990 early Friday morning, riding as much gravel as possible from PTA-East to Cullinan. Everyone that was doing the trip to Zinyala on gravel met up at the Shell garage at 9am. It looked like a KTM cult gathering (more specifically a 950 SE gathering) with the odd BMW or 2. This was followed by the usual brand banter. Bets were made on which bike would run into problems first and would have to face the embarrassing prospect of having to be collected by the backup vehicle.
Whilst getting to meet all the new faces I was informed that on every previous trip the person driving in front of [member=4517]Smokes[/member]  had a bad fall, I am not superstitious but these odds were hard to ignore.

With great excitement and very loud V-Twin engines we started heading north. As we reached the first village after a short gravel section Johan gets a problem on his 950 SE, he has lost the gear lever bolt. Luckily someone was carrying some spare bolts and he is able to get it sorted without further hassles. During this time Bender parked his SE by a large tree next to the road, his side stand sunk into the wet soil and his bike fell down. We then realized this is the local toilet-tree… explaining the wet soil…
We were all happy to get back onto the road as we still had a long way to go.
I regret not having my helmet cam with me on this day as the route consisted of some great 2-spoor routes. The first part being the “Loodswaai Pad” heading towards Renosterkop dam. This was mostly hard pack twisty 2 spoor with some awesome jumps. We stopped before the tar road to regroup and take some pictures

Hoeveel pap wiele het Frank gehad ? :pot: :imaposer:

Luckily there was only 1 puncture on the entire trip, we still believe it was self inflicted. Frank did have one small incident. More on that later.

The second part was a long sandy section next to the Nylsvlei Nature Reserve. Here you could really start to feel the dry bushveld heat and I was looking forward to lunch and a cold beer.
Johan was leading on the Nylsvlei road with myself and the rest following, we were at an area where the road was getting twisty and rather sandy. I was having a lot of fun and then out of nowhere came the fallen tree that laid across the road, there was an escape route to the right but I was far to the left and did not manage to get across in time. I hit the tree head on after some heavy breaking in the sand, by some miracle the momentum popped me and the 990 right over and I managed to ride off unscathed. With each bike breaking heavily in the thick sand before the tree it became increasingly difficult for the last riders to manage the deep ruts. Hercules was at the back of the pack and first to have a fall on his 1200 GSA, luckily the sand broke his fall and perhaps some smaller items on his GSA  :peepwall:
Not long after we reached Naboom, it is here where the single men were promised that they will wine and dine in the company of lovely ladies at a place called “Sasha’s”. They were terribly disappointed to find out that there were only men working at the establishment.
Its here where we also got to meet up with our backup vehicle drivers - [member=217]bud500[/member] and [member=11741]dookie[/member]
I recall [member=2800]Hondsekierie[/member]  stating that Sasha's have the best pizza that money could buy and I couldn’t agree more as I stuffed my face to a point where I considered loading my bike on the backup vehicle and laying in the back seat of bud's bakkie for the rest remainder of the road to Zinyala.

[member=11741]dookie[/member] showing us his true inner Rebel
He is definitely one of the funniest guys I know and he bears a striking resemblance to the Vodacom Meerkat.

After lunch we took the scenic route from Naboom past the Bateleur nature reserve  to Zinyala.
When we arrived at Zinyala I thought the days riding was done, [member=6768]Orangeswifty[/member] informed me of the mountain climb and decent that we had to do in order to reach the bush-camp.

More on that as well as the 500km Saturday trip with videos tomorrow.
