So a mate and I found ourselves in a bit of a 'no way back' situation. We were doing some blue route two-spoor technical riding in the Du Toitskloof mountains. When it is just the two of us we tend to take the unknown routes to see where it leads us and it is always rewarding. One of the big beauties of the Western Cape as here are so many yet-to-be-discovered routes. Unfortunately that one wrong turn ended up being one filled with a ton of praying, swearing and breathing through the wrong holes. We took a turn down the mountain to see if we can reach a nice two-spoor on the opposing mountain and see where it leads us. As soon as we turned down we noticed the sign reading: 'strictly no horses or motorcycles, hikers and mountain bikers use at own risk'. Things got very scary after this, especially when running on a tar oriented rear tyre. I'll leave the photos to speak for itself, however it does not do it justice whatsoever. 10+ meter drops, we nearly lost my mates DCT as it did end up half way over the edge at one point and had to pick it up uphill with tyres facing the sky. The route took us from Paarl to Wellington.
