Seeing my R's engine broke I thought let's hear from others if/what/when has broken engine wise.
Last Monday on the N4 at around 150 km/h my engine's top balancer shaft (the one in the head driven by a camshaft, not the one down in the cases) stripped its gearteeth of the camshaft and damaged the actual balancer's teeth also, causing simultaneously a loud noise & very noticeable vibrations instantly.
The balancer shaft is stuck in the head, it is assumed one bearing seized and ripped the cam's teeth off.
11 months old, around 8600 km on the odo during which oil & filters having been changed 2 times.
Under warranty a new cpl head, all bearings everywhere, and I will presume seals too will be replaced so all will be fine again - thank you KTM :thumleft:
That's an odd occasion however - I hope, but let's hear of others if they've had some engine-wrongs?
