Dear dogs, I am face with a HUGE dilemma. I am taking a bike trip to Cape Town via the Northern Cape in 2 weeks time. My problem is, I don't know which bike to take.Obviously the bike will dictate the roads chosen to some extent. Both bikes are just serviced and there is no obvious technical reason to choose either.
Choice 1 : DR650 - Long stretches of Tar will obviously suck on the bike, so dirt roads will be the way to go. This may be slower, larger potential of getting stranded in the middle of nowhere (old bike?). Ultimately through doint the trip by dirt sounds more interesting and more of an 'adventure'.
Choice 2 : DL1000- Tar is the surface of choice for this bike. I can take a longer route, cover more distance, newer bike so more reliable? Better seat, less ass pain.
Choice 1 seems more interesting, choice 2 seems the more sensible choice. Choice 2 seems the wussier choice.
