A trip around Lesotho with a car without wheels, wedding ring and double bed

When we left Khotso, we went for a breakfast in Underberg at The Lemon Tree.  While eating, David asked that we must do Sani and I immediately rejected as I had still nightmares of Sani when we went in 2012 and I fell 3 times.

After the breakfast we filled the bikes and on our way to Nottingham Road, I took the road to Sani and I could see David’s smile as he drove next to me.

To be honest – the road was like a tar road and I enjoyed every minute.

Eventually we got to the top without any issues and I was a happy chappy, but the wind was pumping and it was extremely cold.

Not applicable to us…. 

We went down without any problems.

I didn’t know of the gravel road between Heimville and Nottingham Road and took the tar road via Midmar Dam & Howick.  But – My first time on this area and I can tick it off that I saw the Midmar dam.

Close to Nothingham Road we were looking for a place to sleep and found a place where we both had a 2 room flat.  Very smart, but we did get it for basically free as they are still busy to renovate the place. 

The owner told us where we could go for a nice meal and the following morning we went back to take some pictures.

My brother was working on a contract in Reitz and we were heading for Reitz as he would entertain us with a braai tonight.

He also rides a bike and the plan was to meet him at a farm stall somewhere and we all will ride together to Reitz.

Not sure why the dam has 2 colours.  Maybe somebody can inform us?

After a good night’s rest we had a boere breakfast and set off to a place called die Dampondok  https://goo.gl/maps/rLXujbSFvA2Quoee8  which is in the Zastron district.

Cannot remember what the sign said, but off we went, and this is what we saw.

We saw this sign and decided to turn around immediately

It was time to eat something and nothing better than a pink milkshake and pannekoek

We got to Zastron, bought meat and made contact with the owners and directions were given.  By this time the wind was pumping  atch: atch:

Luckily there were more than one bed and we both could sleep in peace

The following morning the wind was still pumping like mad and we decided to go straight home.

We got home at about 2 that afternoon and the wind was extremely strong on the road. :eek7: :eek7: atch: atch:

PS – We only got the car back about 4 weeks later and when Ou Bees got back, we bought a new ring, and yes, I am wearing it on a daily basis

Magtig oom Jaco, mooi RR soos net oom hom kan vertel, soveel mooi plekke wat ek net deur oom se storie en fotos beleef...
Nog altyd gedink oom loop saam oom se skelmpie die dat oom nie ring dra nie...

Lekker Jmol,  bly om te sien julle het die trip geniet.

Net vir interesantheid,  die eienaars van Khoso lodge waar julle gebly het (naby Underburg) het ook 'n lodge (Thamathu Lodge) naby Sehelabathebe nationale park. Dit is so 10km verder noord van waar julle gebly het .

Die Driekloof dam is die suidelike gedeelte van die Sterkfontein dam en die twee word geskei deur 'n sement wal.
Die Driekloof gedeelte word gebruik om hidro elektriese krag op te wek wanneer water van die Driekloofdam na die Kilburn dam vloei. Dit word gedoen gedurende die tydperk wanneer daar 'n hoe aanvraag vir elekrisiteit is. Die water word dan weer gedurende lae aanvraag terug gepomp na die Driekloof dam. Dit is dan ook die rede hoekom die Driekloof dam se water modder bruin is in vergelyking met die skoon blou water van die Sterkfontein dam

Ek wonder nou nog waar hul aan daardie bord gekom het.  Miskien was dit toe daar nog 'n pad Kairo toe was.  :biggrin:
