Alfie Cox Racing took a few customers and some local PMB Boys for adventure ride on Sunday 9 Aug . We rode through Karkloof, Muden, Weenen and legendary Darkest Africa where a few KTMs got some cosmetic damage. Some of this route was part of Alfies ACDSF 2014 for those of you who were there. Darkest Africa is a private Game farm so permission is need to ride through there. The route has deteriorated fairly bad and lugging a KTM 1290 worked up a good sweat for me.
There were numerous wash aways and many rocks. It was great to Ride with some legends - Alfie, Rod Gray (1980's Super-bike Champion) Andrew Kean and many more. We had a great lunch and refreshments at the Owl and Elephant in Weenen, well worth the visit for an adventure rider.
We did some 340km with 18 bikes - we had two punctures and its always great having Alfie on board to show his skills at repairing them. All in all it was great outing.
There were 3 KTM 390 Adv bikes on the ride and they performed well within their capabilities.
