A short history behind this rebuild. :deal:
I have an '08 KLR and although I've been all over with her, to the kalahari,Rhodes area,Baviaans,bots and she has been(and will remain)fantastic and utterly reliable, I decided I needed a smaller,lighter bike to play with.
I didn't want an off road only plastic, but rather a smaller dual sport, so my criteria was essentially the same as the KLR.
The bike had to be:
a)simple - easy to fix in remote places
b)reliable- no highly stressed motor
c)capable- off road of course
A couple of bikes made it but the DR won.
Also I always wanted to do a ground up rebuild....It's true..kid you not.
So I purchased this little old DR from some dodge bike shop in Gezina, Knowing that she would need some TLC to get her back to her former glory(more than a little as it turned out).
As no rebuild is worth jack without pics, lets start with what she would have looked like new.
