Lukas how did your fugly handle broekskak?

As you can see on the first post, I stuffed up my left footpeg, so had to use the passenger peg on that side. (actually works well. Thanks for the tip Michiel!)

I had a good look at it, saw that a certain lady rider left a nice oil slick on the left, aimed right, got chucked left, hit the oil slick on that big rock, broekskakked myself!, opened up the throttle and gave a small jump out the top!  :eek7:

The most difficult part was looking all calm as if I meant to slide up like that!  :imaposer:

Only afterward I heard that only half the field made it up there without assistance.  :mwink:

Broekskak  :imaposer:

But Lukas was Amazing. He just floated to the top like cream, first time  :thumleft:
Exerted as much effort as if he was getting up to get the milk out the fridge . :D

Must say I never expected it . He is such an underrated rider and the KLR such an underrated bike, but both the rider and the bike amazed me over the whole event , he never fell once on the whole two days , I wonder how many others can say that ?

I realised too late that I was going too fast up Broekskak , because I thought one had to get up the hill without help. Only afterwards did the photographers tell me they didn't expect me to even try.  :imaposer:

But if I was like a herd of Buffalo up that hill , and ripped my bashplate , Lukas was like a nimble -footed mountain goat, and he rode up without any strain on him or his KLR . :thumleft:

Well if it wasn't for my oil you may have been too slow .  :imaposer: just kidding . :imaposer:
But yes I was concerned when you rode right over in the middle of that fresh oil, I think my heart shut down for a few moments , but your KLR still tracked true. :thumleft:

I guess oil on gravel and rock is not as slippery as on tar  ?

I have nothing but the utmost respect for every one of you  "guys & lady" for giving it your all up that climb!!  :notworthy: :notworthy:

From the photos & video footage I have seen,... & whether you needed assistance or made it up there on your own,.... takes one hell of a lot of commitment & Balls. :thumleft: :thumleft: :hello2: :hello2:

Good stuff. You guys made a good, solid team, despite the severe handicap of the boxer and the fugly bikes.  :imaposer:

During the qualifier in CT, when Pleco emerged from the dunes, he got a good cheer from the racers sitting in the bar at Zone 7 - almost patronisiningly  :peepwall:

Reminded me of when I completed the Herald Cycle Tour on a mountain bike and Bruce Fordyce shorts, Springbok T-shirt and takkies. I was amper die laaste in, and a guy on the side of the road shouted "Well, why not!!??" in encouragement as I rode past.

Plecs and Renette, you showed what this event was and hopefully will always be all about.

Good on ya'll
