Myself and 3 other guys did Baviaans from Cape town ,  was my first time , such a stunning place , was wet on the way up which made the riding some what interesting, Couldn't cross the river on the 4x4 track to get to Steytleville , so made a huge detour all the way to Willowmore and arrived there just before 23h00 , will recommend this ride , stunning views and the roads are stunning , I have photos but i need them to get them smaller as they around 4 megs

With a smile

The amazing things about these photos are that they were mostly taken with cellphones

Thank for posting. Brings back some memories

Hey Murdock,

Great RR

Did you guys consider pushing the bikes through the Groot Rivier @ Groot Rivier Poort?  The water level looks about the same as when we went through. You can read our report here.

Hi J-mo , it was alot deeper than what yousee , the issue wasnt drowning the bikes - the problem was loosing the bikes to the strong current - difficult to ee in the picture. We actually rode deeper water than what you showed me i the pics , we werent going to ride any deeper than we had already ridden

Next time maybe

Hey guys here are some more photos

Die baviaans lyk nou stunning..da het lekker reen geval en die wereld nou wee mooi groen da!!

Baie Mooi phodies!! :D

No chance of pushing through the Groot this time. I walked about a tenth of the way in up to chest height. Not only that but the river was pumping and almost washed me off my feet. Locals told us they had 70mm of rain. Just getting the rangers to let us ride through the Kloof was a mission and only after much negotiations with their superiors were we allowed and even then they waited at the big crossing to prevent us riding through.

Hey Murdock you know the rules ......

No ride report is complete until the picture of beer and food is posted

Don't make me go find THAT picture

OH, it rained a week before we went through, the river was not pumping that much and the deepest were just under the "balsak".

You guys still had to make a big effort to get back to the Elandsriver road though. One of our group members had an off as well riding from Grootrivier Poort to the Elandsriver road. :thumleft:
