We had a long push on tar to Ugie where we were meeting up with Laurie, the Ausie who brought the wrong passport. Laurie rode around Lesothe after we left him at Caledonspoort and he spent the previous night in Lady Grey.

Our plan was to ride Bastervoetpad on route to Mountain Shadow Hotel, but we were way behind schedule and the decision was made to doe Baster the following morning. Instead we head up Barkley Pass to get our first of 10 passes done.........

We got better at the ritual on each pass. Quick individual photo to submit and then a group photo to submit to the website.

Next we rode a few hundred metres to the Mountain Shadow Hotel, which to me was the highlight of the trip as far as accommodation goes.

I soon found out that even adjusting a footpeg immediately drew hoards of BMW riders trying catch a glimpse of KTM failure and post it to Facebook....... eepwall:

Bikers trampling each other to get to the complimentary sherry at check in counter

It was getting bitterly cold as the sun set and we headed to our rooms for a warm shower before supper

After a fantastic buffet dinner and a few Springbokkies and Riekie Louw, Righard and I swept the floor with James and Thomas on the pool table......... Actually it was mostly Righard doing the sweeping, he grew up in Witbank. ot:

Next morning was a very cold again

Only James and Thomas had been on Baster before. The rest of us headed into the cold morning with butterflies in out stomachs

It was bitterly cold out on the track. Visor was fogging up and if I opened it my nose and eyes burned like hell.
