1.After months of planning (which I will not take credit for)and anticipation the day finally arrived and we were on our way. The route was Bloemfontein through Maseru bridge where we will sleep over at Sani Top, the second day to Margate then Rhodes, back to Bloem. Needless to say this will all happen utilizing as little tarmac as possible.
2. The first stop was planned near Thaba Nchu, more to check that none of the stuff we were carrying with us was falling off. Luckily most of the luggage was with the back up vehicle.
3. Arriving at Maseru border post we were very glad that we were not in cars as the queue waiting to get through was easily 1.5km long. The 6 months pass for the people that passes through every day was canceled and this slowed things down a lot. This was also the first fuel stop.
4. Lesotho has some of the nicest roads for riding including the tar sections with lots of sweeping corners and very little traffic
5. Time flies when you are having fun the second rest stop for the day was upon us.

( To be continued )

1. The group consisted of 16 riders

2. Dust rat looking sharp in his outfit. The section of dirt road behind us was worked on and we had to dodge a few major holes that was not marked clearly at all

3. Dirt road twisties

4. We had to wait for the back up vehicle as our lunch was on it. The bikes with the smaller tanks also had to top up as the next fuel stop was just out of reach

5. We chose a river bed as out preferred stop as one could freshen up as well.

1. S enjoying his 800

2 + 3 The pumps at Thaba-Tseka was close and this was a rather big problem. The GPS's could for some or other reason not provide us with a accurate distance to Mokhotlong where we hoped to get fuel. Two of the bikes ran out of fuel. Luckly HPFreak was there with his tanker (GSAdv) to help out with a litre or two and we all made it to Mokhotlong just before the pumps closed.

4 Dust Rat normally rides in front and doesn't understand the dust gap thing.

5. Losper has always got an interesting perspective on matters.

1. The route from Sani to Margate was planned by SGB who knows the area very well. Although we did put on our rain suits we never actually rode in the rain. There was the odd patch of mud.

2.3.4. The rest of the route was dust free and a pleasure to ride on, although judging by old car tracks if we had more rain things would really become interesting.

5. By now we have had 2 punctures and the get home goo helped us reach the nearest garage. HPFreak giving instructions on what to do (He rides a HP and does not do the tyre removal thing)

1. Our luck held up, as we arrived in Margate it started to rain.

2. Breakfast at the Wimpy an we were on our way. The scenery through the old Transkei is breathtaking.

3. The roads was a little more dusty but very nice to ride on nevertheless.

4. The pass up to Naude's Neck consists of loose gravel an corners had to be negotiated a little slower.

5. We made it to Naude's Neck

2. We left Rhodes via tiffindal

3.4.5. With the war trail behind us we heard that our back up vehicle was involved in an accident, and would have to be transported home. Losper and 2 other bikes went to go lend a hand while we carried on home.

1. Losper sent us some images of the land rover and it was clear that it was not going anywhere.

2. That was not going to be the end of the bad luck. As soon as we hit the tar a horse ran in front of HPFreak. Scary thing watching a accident happening in your rear view mirror. Notice the skid marks on the tar road.

3. HP handled the situation briliantly and somehow managed to get himself and the bike on the tar as they hit the horse taking its feet from underneath it. Miraculously the horse jumped up. HP refused any help as he dusted himself and investigated the damage to his bike (80 grands worth by the way). You must admire the protective clothing and the touratech crash bar bags as neither of them were damaged badly.

4. Having reached Zastron, Dust Rats feul filter needed some attention as he was the first to fill up at Rhodes. We took the chance to fill up on burgers and chips

5. The group split again at Zastron, those in a hurry took the tar road. Sadly all good things come to an end
