The OEM spark plug caps have a 1k ohm resistor built into them of which go bad after a while. These resistors are unobtainium so I was wondering if it would be bad for the coil if I bi-passed the resistor with a really thick piece of copper? I have read that back emf on the coil as a result from removing the resistor can damage it. I have another option of replacing the cap and HT wire with a generic motor car HT lead which is inductive and has a 3.5K ohm resistance which would be second prize.
