The previous night, there was some Hippo activity along the lodge perimeter fence and I was curious to go and have a look before I set off. The Hippo or Hippos did some serious damage to the fence and at one spot actually broke right through the fence, obviously hurting itself as there were blood stains on the grass.

Time to leave.

My hosts, Craig and Elize, who were so generous to me, with one of their two sons, the younger one was having a bad day.

My final account was R6 826.00, it should have been around R30 000,00.

Thank you to both of you.

Packed and ready to go.

The young men are home-schooled by Elize, and if I remember correctly, the young man on the right is the son of her teaching assistant.

I was sad to leave this little paradise. I had met so many people and had such amazing experiences.

Then there was the 7 km section to the main road. It took me all of 17 minutes. The video will be posted once I have done the editing.

I stopped in Sumbu to buy some of the local printed cloth, a surprise gift to someone special.

Matilda was swamped.

I checked the Dunlops, they were still ready for the road ahead.

My last view over Lake Tanganyika and Sumbu, before heading to Mporokoso. Hopefully, there is fuel at the gas station this time.

I came up to a truck on the road, the dust cloud made it impossible to pass it, so I parked off for a while to give it time to put some distance between us. Fortunately, the truck pulled off at a village and I was able to carry on.

From Kasama it was to Mpepo, where-after I would turn off the tar onto gravel for the last section to Kapishya Hot Springs.

Somehere near Duta, I stopped on a bridge, you can clearly see the dust on Matilda, after my encounter with the truck on the road to Mporokoso.

I was told the story of the railway bridge crossing the same river. The original bridge was blown up by the Rhodesian military, a new bridge was subsequently built, but then the train rode into the side of the bridge.

How?

Kapishya Hot Springs.

Once again, I am blessed, Mark Harvey, the owner gives me a chalet for the price of a camping site.

It is my second time here, but it still remains a little paradise.

A late night Cuppachino before bed.

I assume this must have been be a cathartic experience. And I also assume that was the reason for the trip.

BUT - take the positive out of it. You have experienced kindness from strangers you never expect to show kindness, seen places most of us will never see, met people we will never meet. Take the positive out of this experience.

We cannot change the past, only look forward to the future

After checking on Matilda. I took a little tour of Kapishya Hot Springs.

This where I sat, imagining my boy next to me, his arm around me, and I felt like he was saying; "It's OK Dad, don't feel guilty, you deserve this, I love you and will be with you always".

OH, how I miss my boy.
