20 July 2021

Early morning, Matilda was packed and Brandon's sticker no 39 went up at my campsite.

The previous day I met Henk, who is maintenance manager for the Gondwana Group who own Omarunga, and his wife, cannot remember her name, who is the manager of Palmwag Lodge and Camp, also part of the Gondwana Collection. They said that if I wanted to stay at Palmwag, they would phone and make all the arrangements for me, I accepted.

It was time to say goodbye to Andrew and hit the road.

Sticker no 40 on the Omarunga sign.

Turnoff to Van Zyls pass just there by Okanguati.... Vaaaaaak its a beautiful little road from there eventually to Marble Camp
I hope that people leave your stickers alone- given the negativity even on this forum about stickers  :peepwall: :pot:

Amazing gravel road. Just be aware of the goats everywhere, and sometimes you have an Ostrich challenge to face.

There is a natural beauty all over Namibia, but you have to take the time to stop. Distance in Namibia is not ever measured in kilometers, it is measured in hours. That is the only way that the journey becomes more important than the destination.

You have to stop and appreciate the desolation and the vast extent of a lack of commercialisation which surrounds you.

Missed that one, I will have to go back. It OK for a loaded Matilda?

I could really not give a $*!# about people's opinion about my stickers. Thankfully, my life is not ruled by other people's opinion.

I have a hiccup now and then, but I always find my way back, and it is always my way on the way back. Why? Too many people have opinions, too few of them actually do something. Actions speak so much louder than words.

Diiferent folks have different abilities- we were on 500's. Not GS country that. Would not even think of my 890 there

This herd of goats approached me from behind and when they got close to Matilda, had no idea what to do, they just stood there, so it was time to move on.

OK, so it is the same Van Zyl's Pass I was warned about not taking on without back-up.

Back on the road to Palmwag.

When I was a Omarunga, Henk suggested I stop off at Orongo Waterfall Campsite. I found the turn-off and got there. The road is, let's say, not very good.

It is a really beautiful setting, but basic, very basic. At R600 per night, it was a no go for me, and I was not prepared for full on self-catering.

Off to Palmwag.
